‘Galvanized’, ‘powder coated’ and ‘zinc steel’ can hide different substrates and sequences.
Start with the base steel and fabrication sequence. Then state whether zinc is applied after fabrication or is already present on the incoming section, how welds and cut edges are treated, what preparation and coating layers follow, and which evidence must accompany the offer. Environment and maintenance expectations belong in the brief, but a generic coating label or salt-spray value should not be converted into a promised field life.

Process questions
The quotation should distinguish supported options from project requests.
Request the offered grade or section basis and the document that will identify it.
State when cutting, forming and welding occur relative to the zinc-coating step.
Request preparation, coating family, colour, cure/control records and treatment of edges and repairs.
Require issuer, method, edition, specimen or batch, result, scope and limitations.
