Decision boundary

This guide decides: which observations, events, records and escalation gates belong in the lifecycle plan.

This guide does not decide: a universal inspection interval, acceptance limit, repair method, root-cause conclusion or return-to-service approval.

Separate receiving and installation records.

At receipt, record marks, counts, bundle and coating condition, deformation and missing accessories. During assembly and fill, link observations and hold points to the approved unit and connection schedule.

Record system condition, not only wire damage.

Observe opened joints, broken or abraded wire, coating damage, bulging, displaced or lost fill, settlement, scour, erosion, drainage change, vegetation and debris. Record location, extent and photographs without guessing the cause.

Route changes to the right authority.

Floods, impact, settlement, exposed filters, undermining, anchor change or repeated wire damage may need engineering review. Quarantine loose components where relevant, apply project controls and record accept, repair, replace or monitor decisions with a named owner.

Issue the same controlled inputs to every supplier. Keep unknowns open with an owner and due date.

What a usable supplier response returns

The response identifies the exact offered mesh or cage, unit and component quantities, material and coating basis, drawings, packing and document register. It separates confirmations from assumptions, options, exclusions and deviations. Civil, structural, hydraulic, geotechnical and rockfall decisions remain with their responsible project authorities.
