Define the visual objective.
State whether the project needs partial screening, reduced direct sight, a cleaner background, brand colour or near-opaque privacy. Ask for the manufacturer's declared coverage method and limitations; appearance changes with viewing angle, mesh, slat profile and installation.
Check compatibility with the fabric.
Slat profile and locking method must suit the chain-link mesh opening, wire and fence height. For woven screens, identify material, openness, edge reinforcement, attachment spacing and replacement route. Do not assume one insert fits every mesh.
Reopen the wind-load question.
Open mesh allows substantial airflow. Inserts and screens increase projected area, so the existing posts, spacing, rails, braces, bases and foundations may no longer match the new condition. Provide site wind criteria, exposure, topography, fence geometry and screening properties to the responsible reviewer.
Coordinate attachment and maintenance.
Repeated wind movement, UV exposure, vegetation, contamination and vandalism can affect inserts and ties. The supplier should identify compatible attachment and replacement components; the maintenance plan should include loosened, torn, missing or brittle screening.
Treat later additions as a change.
If privacy will be installed after the original fence, preserve the approved fence record and assess the changed condition before purchase. A fence that appears stable in open mesh form is not automatic evidence for a screened configuration.

What a usable supplier response should return.
A useful response does more than repeat the enquiry. It identifies the exact proposed product and component basis, uses the same units and location IDs as the buyer's schedule, and distinguishes confirmed values from assumptions. Where a field depends on a survey, responsible design input, local requirement or another trade, it should remain visibly open rather than being converted into a silent typical value.
The commercial offer should also state what is included, optional and excluded; which drawing or datasheet revision controls the answer; what evidence maps to the offered configuration; and what must be approved before fabrication. This lets buyers compare like with like and prevents a quotation from accidentally closing a structural, safety, civil or compliance decision.
