The face material is only one part of an installed barrier system.

A reflective barrier uses a substantially solid face and redirects incident sound; an absorptive barrier adds a sound-absorbing face and protected infill intended to reduce reflected energy; a transparent barrier preserves light or sightlines while providing a solid obstruction. A hybrid combines documented sections. None of these labels predicts the reduction at a receiver. That outcome depends on source, receiver, barrier geometry, openings, terrain, reflections and the installed configuration, and therefore belongs with the project acoustic professional.

Panels and joints

Face and back sheets, infill, internal supports, edge profiles, horizontal and vertical joints, seals, drainage and replacement method.

Posts and connections

Post form, rail or frame, clips, bolts, isolation materials, caps, tolerances, special bays and interface drawings.

Openings and access

Pedestrian or maintenance gates, removable panels, thresholds, hardware, seals and any changed acoustic or structural evidence.

Civil boundary

Survey, ground, wall or bridge interface, foundations, anchors, drainage, utilities and responsibility for site-specific design.

Finish and exposure

Substrate, coating sequence, colour, salt or industrial exposure, cleaning, repair and component-specific corrosion evidence.

Documents and packing

Record road, rail or industrial application, governing owner, country and tender document set.

Select solid reflective, absorptive, transparent or hybrid only as a commercial route for review.

Require the same configuration schedule, drawings, evidence map, deviations, packing and commercial basis.
