Survey more than the total length.
Provide levels or surveyed points along the line, slope start/end, abrupt changes, retaining walls, curbs, drains, soft ground and erosion areas. A single average gradient can hide the exact locations that create triangular gaps or special terminal conditions.
Choose how the fabric follows the grade.
Chain-link fabric can accommodate some sloping geometry through a reviewed bias or installation arrangement, while abrupt changes may need stepping, extra terminals, shorter sections or a civil transition. Record the appearance and maximum acceptable gap rather than assuming the installer will absorb the terrain.
Define the bottom restraint by purpose.
Bottom tension wire, bottom rail, ties, curb or another coordinated detail can control how easily the fabric is pushed or lifted. Pet, animal, ball, security and public-boundary objectives may require different scrutiny; name the subject and behavior being controlled.
Keep drainage and erosion visible.
Closing a gap with fill can redirect water, settle or wash away. Mark drainage paths, vegetation, mowing zones, soft shoulders and maintenance access so the fence detail and civil work do not silently conflict.
Approve transitions on drawings.
Number each slope, step, wall, curb, drain and change of bottom treatment. The supplier should return the proposed fabric/terminal arrangement and special components; the responsible project party approves civil, foundation and local requirements.

What a usable supplier response should return.
A useful response does more than repeat the enquiry. It identifies the exact proposed product and component basis, uses the same units and location IDs as the buyer's schedule, and distinguishes confirmed values from assumptions. Where a field depends on a survey, responsible design input, local requirement or another trade, it should remain visibly open rather than being converted into a silent typical value.
The commercial offer should also state what is included, optional and excluded; which drawing or datasheet revision controls the answer; what evidence maps to the offered configuration; and what must be approved before fabrication. This lets buyers compare like with like and prevents a quotation from accidentally closing a structural, safety, civil or compliance decision.
