Survey the full line.

Record coordinates, levels, gradients, corners, retaining structures, drainage routes, ditches, utilities, pavements, changes of substrate and access for excavation or installation. A single typical bay is not a site model.

Choose how the fence follows ground.

Stepped panels, raked or special panels and local transition pieces change posts, bottom clearances, visual alignment and evidence scope. Confirm any permitted gradient or configuration limit attached to a tested system.

Control the bottom interface.

State the maximum accepted gap and how changes in level, erosion, soft ground, culverts, drains and walls are treated. Buried or below-ground barriers are separate design items and must consider drainage, corrosion and maintainability.

Allocate civil design and inspection.

The responsible engineer should define loads, ground data, foundation or anchor design, concrete and reinforcement requirements, tolerances and inspection. The supplier should identify component reactions and interfaces only when verified for the offered configuration.

Check construction access and sequence.

Survey information must be usable by the people pricing excavation, concrete, panel handling and reinstatement. Record restricted working width, overhead constraints, traffic control, spoil handling, concrete access, coating protection and whether gates or special panels must be installed before adjacent work closes the route. The sequence should also preserve drainage and inspection access rather than burying unresolved transitions behind later paving or landscaping.

The final detail depends on survey, soil, loads, drainage and the offered system. These routes organize coordination; they are not universal construction details.

    Record fence-line coordinates and levels plus walls, drains, utilities, slabs, roads, obstructions and installation access. Flag areas that could not be observed.

    Segment the fence line

    Group straight level runs, gradients, steps, corners, structures, openings and drainage crossings. Assign a detail type and owner to each transition.

    Confirm component and civil inputs

    Obtain verified post reactions or interface data for the offered configuration and route foundation, anchor and substrate decisions to the responsible engineer.

    Review tolerances and constructability

    Check how survey error, excavation, concrete position, panel dimensions, coatings, equipment reach and sequence affect alignment and gaps.

    Inspect and preserve the baseline

    Record hold points, installed levels, gaps, supports, drainage condition and as-built changes so later settlement or erosion can be identified.
