A preliminary fence BOM converts measured run length, clear gate width and a nominated panel width into a nominal panel and post-position count. It is a budgeting quantity, not a cutting list.

For 35 m total length, a 2 m gate and 2.5 m panels, the net fenced length is 33 m and the nominal count is 14 panels before product-specific adjustment.
Counting the gate opening as fenced length, or assuming every corner, gate and partial panel uses the same post arrangement.
